My girlfriend has a maytag dryer..went and bought a 4 prong pigtail new codes?

i know how to hook it up and did with her dad over my view..anyways i had the black wire on far left and blue to far right,,and white in middle neutral..the green i bottled to the back is a ground..it came on..so we shut it off..hooked exhaust hose..and tried to restart it NOTHING..i checked the fuse box it wasn't kicked off.....why is the blue wire blue and not read?? but anyways the panel lights came on and started right up..ive done alot of these..want to know f i plug it in can i check the leads to see if kits getting power without a meter?? any help thanks
