We're moving to Sacramento. Where should we live?

My husband got a job downtown, and we have two kids. We love urban areas with walkable neighborhoods, but we need great public schools. Are the schools in the Midtown area good? Are there nearby neighborhoods that have great schools, sidewalks, tree-lined streets, and smaller residential lots? We're not very excited about suburban sprawl, but the schools are a bigger priority. My husband will be making a generous salary, but we won't be rich. Thank you!
