Do conservatives really want the economy to recover?

If the economy recovers under Obama's watch, he'll probably be re-elected, but if it doesn't recover, he probably won't be re-elected. Also, a bad economy gives the republicans a way to justify cutting social programs they don't like such as planned parenthood, social security, medi-care, student loans, etc. It also gives them an excuse to cut environmental programs, institutions, and laws they don't like cause they hurt corporate profits, such as the EPA, or laws curbing green house gases.
